Over the last 10 years we have brewed over 100 different beers and collected over 40 international awards. Our variety ranges from high percentage to non-alcoholic, from dark and heavy to sparkling, sour and light. In addition to our core range we love to brew specials, seasonals and in collaboration with other breweries.
(non-alcoholic Juicy Pale Ale, <0,4% abv, core range)
Coconut Grove greets the eye with a rock solid, long lasting white head and a hazy, light golden body and it gives off a beautiful and inviting aroma of tropical fruits, mainly pineapple and lime
With more than 50% oats in the grain bill you’ll have a light, yet creamy & juicy mouthfeel – almost like a light, tropical milkshake, just without the vanilla.
There is hardly any bitterness noticeable if at all yet the overall sweetness is low. Ludicrous amounts of Bru-1, Galaxy, Sabro, Vic Secret and Talus generate a tropical fruit bomb dominated by Pineapple, Coconut Water and a hint of Pink Grapefruit – N/A Pina Colada IPA anyone? Who wants an umbrella with it
(non-alcoholic IPA, <0,4% abv, core range)
We brew our üNN with a special yeast that can only ferment very few of the sugars available in a regular beer wort. It will start fermenting like a regular yeast but will run out of food before it has produced 0,4%abv. After that the yeast is still alive and available for maturation. Therefore we can produce our ü.NN (= a.s.l. - above sea level) non-alcoholic IPA exactly the same way as our other beers without any „technological tricks“ - a full brewing process, dry-hopped with Simcoe and Mosaic, but only 0,4 abv. The result: full flavor, but sorry, no bang. The beer smells surprisingly fruity with hints of mango, lime and pineapple. It pours with a good head. It is a nice copper color and cloudy, – looks great in a glass! It is not overly hoppy and is strong on bitterness, with a hint of the fruitiness that was evident on the nose. It’s not watery at all and has a lasting finish. Gold Medal winner European Beer Star 2018.
(New Style Lager, 5,9% abv, core range)
Prototyp was the first beer we brewed when we started Kehrwieder back in 2012. It was our prototype for a new approach on a very traditional German beer style – Helles Lager. Brewed with bohemian floor malt and dry hopped with Saazer and Simcoe during its seven weeks of maturation it arrives in the glass with a rich golden color and a dense white head. Prototyp has a beautiful aroma of Passionfruit, lychee and elderflower. It has a very lean body with low bitterness and a very high drinkability. It finishes very clean and fruity. Who doesn't know the cult movie "The Big Lebowski"? - Jeff Bridges signature role as old hippie Jeffrey Lebowski, who just calls himself the dude. In the film, the Dude only drinks White Russian Cocktails, which he only calls "Caucasians". When we watched the film for the umpteenth time, the idea arose to brew the White Russian as a beer.
Since the White Russian consists of three ingredients (vodka = a lot of alcohol, Kahlua coffee liqueur and milk) it was obvious to brew the whole thing as a combination of three different stout variants: Russian Imperial Stout = almost as much alcohol as vodka; Coffee Stout for the coffee and Milk Stout for lactose. As always, we got the coffee from our friends from the Quijote roastery, who have a close partnership with the local producers and import their coffee directly. For our El Duderino we used 50% Ecuadorian Robusta and 50% Indian Arabica, both roasted as dark espressi, coarsely grounded and “dry- coffeeed” in the storage tank.
The result is an incredibly complex stout, brewed with dehusked, roasted malt to emphasize the aroma and not the bitterness (analogous to the cocktail). Dominated by wonderful coffee notes, similar to a cold drip coffee with an insane texture and a creamy sweetness from the lactose. The 10% alcohol hide well and are only noticeable by a slight warmth in the finish. The caffeine content ensures that you stay awake for a second glass - even if deeply relaxed – you should definitely not go bowling!
Since the "Russian Imperial Milk Coffee Stout" beer style would have been a bit unwieldy, we decided on "Caucasian Stout" as the beer style based on the film template. And of course the name "El Duderino" comes from the legendary scene when the two Lebwoskis sit across from each other and the dude looks at the "Big Lebowski": “I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
For us beer is Art, Love, Friendship, Diversity and Respect – this is why we love to brew together with friends all over the world.
It is an exciting journy through the barrel aging world. We are aging different beers in a wide variety of wine, whiskey, rum or other spirit barrels. The beer and the barrel determine when they ar ready for bottling. All that remains for us is attentive care and regular tasting. It`s a tough job, but someone got to do it.
